| Aradia is my very special girl! There are those dogs in our life who are so very special - Aradia is like my daughter. She is one of the loves of my life. She's perfect to me. She's great to travel with, never causes any problems, loves to show, is perfect in the house and with other dogs and people. I'd trust her in any situation. At a show once (Working Group judging) I was concerned because the judge was walking around the ring with a walker. Aradia seemed ok but because she is a Neo I was kind of concerned. Not to worry! When it came time for the judge to physically put her hands on the dogs, we were instructed to walk to the judge who was now seated in a chair. The judge examined Aradia, and then Aradia climbed half-way into her lap and started kissing her! I told her to get down of course and she did and then acted very politely. The judge was totally enamored of her. She placed 5th in Group (no ribbons) but it was a very large group. I'll have to mention here that she has "guarded" my van. If it's open, and she's in it, she tolerates strangers coming up to it but if they get too friendly she has growled warnings to them. Like, "You can look but do not touch!". So she isn't a wimp, she fits the Standard for the Neapolitan Mastiff temperament. She's very lovable to everyone but does her job when needed. I've never encouraged this, she just does it on her own. She loves puppies although she's never had any of her own. She's a good teacher to those puppies. Loves cats, small animals, kids and she's game for anything! It's a huge disappointment to me that Aradia has never had a litter. She's 6 years old and I cherish everyday. Her mother, Francesca, was my first Neo - I thought SHE was perfect! For all the same reasons as above. When I lost her I thought I would never have another dog like her. I was wrong. Both are and were my most beloved, loyal, intelligent and constant companions. |
